Work on £6m swimming pool in North Wales begins
Work is underway on a £6m swimming pool in Llandudno near Conwy, North Wales.
The development will include an eight-lane, 25m competition pool – which will feature an adjustable floor – and a 20m learner pool.
The larger pool, designed by council architects, will provide for regional short course competitions, water polo and elite squad training as well as community, club and school swimmers.
Goronwy Edwards, leader of Conwy Council said: “This is an exciting scheme for both Llandudno and the North Wales region. The council has worked closely with the Sports Council for Wales and the Welsh Amateur Swimming Association over the past three years to achieve this project.”
The scheme is being funded by Conwy County Borough Council with the help of a £1.5m National Lottery grant.
The project is expected to be completed by autumn 2007. Details: www.conwy.gov.uk
