Work starts on £1m Institute stadium scheme

By Pete Hayman    19 Nov 2010

A turf-cutting ceremony has marked the start of work on a £1m redevelopment of Institute Football Club's (IFC) Riverside Stadium in Drumahoe, Northern Ireland.

First Minister Peter Robinson and sports minister Nelson McCausland were in attendance, with the Northern Ireland Executive contributing more than £800,000. A new 650-seat east stand will be created as part of the scheme, along with a control room; media suite; and toilet facilities. The capacity of the venue will increase to 3,000.
