Work starts on £50m Cyprus development
UK-based multi-disciplinary consulting firm Capita Symonds has confirmed work has now started on the infrastructure for a £50m (EUR59.7m) mixed-use project in Nicosia, Cyprus.
The Riviera development is located in the suburbs of the city and is designed by ESA, which was acquired by Capita Symonds for an undisclosed sum in October this year.
Two distinct but connected parts form part of the scheme: a residential area and an 18,000sq m (193,750sq ft) commercial sector featuring leisure, retail and community facilities.
Parks and piazzas are also planned for the development, along with 5,000sq m (53,820sq ft) of water features and 3km (1.9 miles) of dedicated cycle and pedestrian routes.
A spokesperson said: "Buildings are planned around a regenerated natural 'creek' that will form the heart of a new linear park, stretching for nearly 1km (0.6 miles) through the scheme."
The first phase of the development is due for completion in 2013.
