Yorkshire wheel finally set in motion
The Yorkshire Wheel, a 54m high observation wheel based at the National Railway Museum in York, UK has been launched this morning following a week-long delay.
Initially scheduled for 7 April, the launch was postponed twice due to delays in getting the final signing-off checklist completed for the attraction.
The wheel took just a month to assemble and offers views of the city centre of York. It will remain in place for up to three years.
It will offer 42 enclosed capsules accommodating up to eight people each and including one luxury VIP gondola with a leather seats.
The museum has predicted the new attraction could bring an extra one million tourists to the city from across the UK and abroad. While entry to the museum is free, trips on the wheel will be charged for.
