The Oval sports centre in Wirral, Bebington, has fully reopened following the completion of a £2.4m refurbishment.

The centre now boasts a refurbished two-pool swimming complex with a changing village – the final phase of the refurbishment. The project was completed in phases. The upgraded complex now includes a spectators' area, improved access for people with disabilities, a redeveloped club room and new energy saving features. Six lanes of the pools have also been retiled in accordance with Amateur Swimming Association standards.

Other completed parts of the refurbishment included the development of eight, short-side football pitches, improvements to the sports hall, a remodeled reception area and café, a new function suite and studio rooms and resurfaced tennis courts.
