£5.7m facility unveiled in Wolverhampton
Wolverhampton City Council (WCC) has officially unveiled the new £5.7m Blakenhall Community and Healthy Living Centre.
Funded primarily by All Saints and Blakenhall Community Development (ABCD), the venue was opened with the help of television personality Satnam Rana on 17 January. Facilities include a fitness suite and separate young people's gym; a toning suite; and a sports hall offering activities such as gymnastics, netball and football.
Sunbeam Children's Centre will operate the venue's crèche, while a café is scheduled to open in due course. WCC will manage the centre, which replaces outdated facilities. ABCD executive director Keith Kirby said: "The new centre was one of the community's main priorities and it is already providing an exciting new environment for activities such as social events, sport, recreation and learning."
